Committee Members Driving Directions The Polar Challenge |
The Polar Challenge to Conquer Cancer events have grown at a rapid pace since they were first organized by Neil Banerjee in 1997 when his mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. She died two years later. It all started with a small group of 16 friends playing a friendly golf tournament to raise money for The American Cancer Society. Since that time, the event has grown tremendously to the point where it is now multiple events, the Polar Challenge Golf Tournament and the Polar Party. In 2011 there were 120 participants at he Polar Challenge golf tournament, 250 people at the Polar Party. The past three years have seen tremendous growth in participation, committee members, sponsorships, and the event's contribution to the American Cancer Society. The Polar Challenge to Conquer Cancer has contributed over $300,000 to the American Cancer Society since its inception. It is only through the great support of local sponsors that we have been able to achieve such great results and growth over the past few years. We look to continue to grow this event in an effort to help battle this horrible disease. Please get to know the sponsors who have helped us with our events and make it a point to thank them for their support when you do business with them. Cancer has touched all of our lives in one way or another. Please help us in supporting the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. |
